The team understands itself as contact partner for anyone seeking, supporting and marketing innovative technologies. Fraunhofer Venture consists of experts from the fields of business administration and contract drafting. This ideally supplements the technological competence of the served scientists.

 

Thomas Doppelberger

Thomas Doppelberger has been a commercial consultant with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft since 1998. He has been working for Fraunhofer Venture since its foundation in 1999 and was appointed head of the Group in the summer of 2000.Preceding his professional career, he studied business administration and political economics at the university of Augsburg and gained initial practical experience within the scope of various industrial assignments pertaining to commercial taxation and controlling.

Andreas Aepfelbacher

Andreas Aepfelbacher has been supporting Fraunhofer Venture since February 2002. Before taking up his post in the project financing division at the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, he gained occupational experience at Messe München GmbH, where he was specifically responsible for the development and implementation of controlling instruments and standards. Following his graduation in the forestry / environmental engineering and business administration courses of study, he worked as a project developer and participation controller for a management company of RWE-Umwelt AG.

Matthias Keckl

Matthias Keckl has been working as an investment manager for the Fraunhofer Venture team since February 2004. Preceding this assignment, he gained initial occupational experience in the fields of auditing and audit-related services. During his university studies, he completed several traineeships with banks as well as in the marketing division of a publishing house specialized in new media. Prior to attending university, he had completed an occupational training as bank clerk. Currently, he is completing an executive MBA program.

Manfred Stöger

Manfred Stöger has been working for Fraunhofer Venture since February 2003. Preceding this assignment, he held a post in the logistics department of Infineon AG, where his tasks included amongst others the co-development of a supply chain management introduction project. Prior to his studies of business administration at the Rosenheim university of applied sciences, he completed an occupational training as bank clerk.

Peter Wittmann

Peter Wittmann joined Fraunhofer Venture in February 2009. Before, he gained experiences in start-ups as well as in financial management and M&A for companies in the Middle East and in Europe. While working at the BMW Group, he also gained long-term experience with IT projects in the sales and after-sales business. Peter Wittmann has a degree in computer science from TU München and an MBA from Stanford Business School in California.

Sebastian Surma

Sebastian Surma joined Fraunhofer Venture as an Investment Manager in April 2010. In his previous positions, he was Business Analyst in the Financial Services Division of the BMW Group and worked in the sales control and organizational design teams of IBM and Cologne-based WDR. Additionally, he has acquired hands-on experience in Internet-related businesses, where he was involved as a systems developer and company founder.
Prior to his professional career, Sebastian studied Business Administration and Information Systems at the University of Cologne.

Friederike Meyer-Plath

Friederike Meyer-Plath is a lawyer and joined the Fraunhofer Venture team in May 2009. Before, Ms. Meyer-Plath worked as a lawyer for a large international law office focusing on the protection of industrial property. Ms. Meyer-Plath studied law in Munich, Hamburg, Berlin and Boston majoring in business law and the protection of industrial property.

Karola Bachelin

Karola Bachelin is a lawyer and has been working for Fraunhofer Venture since August 1999. Prior to this assignment, she worked in the general legal department of the Fraunhofer company after having gained occupational experience at a lawyer's office specialized in international commercial law as well as within the scope of various projects, e.g. at Bayerischer Rundfunk and Siemens AG. She completed her legal training in Munich and Bordeaux.

Kai-Olaf Preiss

Kai-Olaf Preiss has been supporting Fraunhofer Venture as a lawyer since March 2001. Prior to taking up this post, he worked in the legal department of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, amongst others in the resort for industrial property protection. He was also able to gain experience in an internationally operating start-up company after having completed his legal studies at the universities of Regensburg and Munich.

Johann C. Siemes

Johann C. Siemes is a lawyer and has supported the Fraunhofer Venture team since March 2008. Before, he worked in a law office focusing, among others, on business law and labor law. Johann C. Siemes concluded his law studies in Erlangen, Frankfurt am Main, Munich and San Diego.

Michael Kuschel

Michael Kuschel is a lawyer and joined the Fraunhofer Venture team in October 2009. At present, he is also working on his juridicial dissertation on company spin-offs. He studied law in Munich, London and Athens.

Viktoria Bredin

Viktoria Bredin has been working for Fraunhofer Venture since November 2000. As our team assistant, the trained office communications clerk is responsible for the documentation and management of our deal flow and for all office management tasks. She completed her occupational training at Jakob Altvater GmbH & Co.

Dr. Volker Kuppelwieser

Dr. Volker Kuppelwieser has supported the team sind November 2007. He changed from the M&A division of a corporate group where he managed European projects to Fraunhofer Venture. Before, the doctor of business administration was responsible for process optimization, restructuring and recapitalization measures as a project manager in staff divisions. He gained further professional experience in two consultancies. He studied business studies at the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt and majored in service management, controlling, banking management and financing. Dr. Volker Kuppelwieser earned his doctorate from Universität Leipzig dealing with customer relationship and customer loyalty in a sideline program.

Maya Knorpel

Maya Knorpel started to work as a Business Consultant at Fraunhofer Venture in January 2009. Following her financial studies in Moscow, she worked in financial management and business development. After her second degree in economic science from Leibniz University Hannover majoring in marketing, corporate management and media science, she worked in further projects on Eastern and Western European markets.

Amaliny Yoganathan-Hasselbeck

Amaliny Yoganathan-Hasselbeck joined Fraunhofer Venture as a Business Consultant in February 2009. Before, she gained professional experience as a strategy and M&A consultant with a focus on Asia. During her studies of economic science at Bergische Universität Wuppertal and at Bond University in Australia, she was able to gain project experience at home and abroad.

Mario Kretschmar

Mario Kretzschmar has supported Fraunhofer Venture since March 2009 with spin-off projects and the technology transfer between the Dresden Fraunhofer Institutes. In addition to supporting foundation projects, he also focuses on technology screening as well as the organization of motivation and qualification events.
Since 2006 he had supported innovative and technology-focused foundation projects at Dresden Exists and before that gained experience as strategic buyer in an international corporate group and as consultant and authorized representative in a consultancy. Before he graduated as industrial engineer from HTW Dresden, he completed commercial training and worked for three years in a managing position in a craft business.
 

Björn Schmalfuß

Björn Schmalfuß joined Fraunhofer Venture in October 2008. Before, he studied Industrial Design at the University of Applied Science - München and worked in the Office Innovation Center of the Fraunhofer IAO in Stuttgart.
