The Company
Fludicon develops, manufactures, and markets shock absorbing systems for the engineering and automotive industry based on electrorheological fluids (ERF). Fluids that change their consistency under the influence of an electric current serve for producing controllable dampers operating within milliseconds. Located in Darmstadt, the high-tech company is the global innovation leader in this field.
Current applications for this new and innovative technology include among others automation technology, assembly and materials handling technology, sports equipment technology, test engineering, and the automotive industry. Numerous other applications are inevitable by the creativity of engineers and technicians.
Due to long-term intensive research and development, Fludicon is the first company in the position to provide products and systems based on electrorheological fluids for industrial implementation. The shock absorbers are used by the following industries:
- Automotive industry: eRRide, the semi-active shock absorber system for passenger car and truckchassis frames
- Industry: RheDamp as shock absorber, oil brake, or vibration absorber
- RheDampMed for applications in fitness and rehabilitation (intelligent resistance control)
Award
Fludicon is the global technology leader in the field of electrorheological fluids and holds more than 70 protective rights in the context of ERF. Fludicon actively cooperates with numerous universities and Fraunhofer Institutes (e.g. LBF Darmstadt or ISC Würzburg).
In 2009, Fludicon was awarded the EUROPEAN AUTOMOTIVE ADVANCED SUSPENSION TECHNOLOGIES EXCELLENCE IN RESEARCH AWARD by FROST & SULLIVAN.
The Services
RheDamp®
RheDamp are fully tuneable shock absorbers adapting to varying demands within milliseconds based on the ERF technology. An electrical signal determines the damping forces, which may thus be optimally adapted to the active excitation forces. This is also referred to as the digitalization of hydraulics.
eRRide®
The semi-active, energy-efficient, weight-saving, and environmentally-friendly chassis for all types of on-road and off-road vehicles.
Fluid Digital Control
Electrorheological fluids (ERF) form the basis for a new technology.
Digital electronics and non-linear control in connection with ERF open up unprecedented solution potentials for valve functions, vibration absorbers. For engineering, the automotive industry, or fitness and medical technology, the ERF technology enables innovative solutions at low costs that are at the same time environmentally friendly and virtually maintenance-free.
