ISYS Adaptive Solutions GmbH

The Company

ISYS Adaptive Solutions GmbH

ISYS Adaptive Solutions GmbH offers holistic solutions for various industries. The focus is on the development and production of systems for active vibration reduction as well as for higher-frequency component and material testing by means of piezoceramic interfaces. Furthermore, with general and consulting services, ISYS offers solutions for vibration-related challenges.

ISYS Adaptive Solutions GmbH is a spin-off of the adaptronics unit of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF. The aim of the spin-off is the commercial implementation of Fraunhofer LBF research results, in particular of those arising from the Competence Center Mechatronics / Adaptronics.

Active vibration reduction

By means of active structures it is possible to minimize mechanical vibration and the interrelated acoustic emission. Active systems use the combination of actuators, sensors, amplifiers as well as signal processing in order to reduce vibration in the closed loop.

The choice of the implemented actuator concept is dependent on user-specific requirements. Typically, actuators based on multi-functional materials, e. g. piezoceramics (patches, stacks), active fluids (MRF, ERF), magnetostrictive materials or memory compositions, are used. Furthermore, classic actuators such as plunger coils, hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders, or electromagnets are applied.

Services

ISYS offers support for solving vibration-related issues. With extensive knowledge in the field of vibration engineering, ISYS supports the analysis, evaluation and solution of vibration-related challenges. Typical tools are modal analyses or the examination of operating vibrations. They provide information about the structure's dynamic behavior and constitute the basis for passive or active structure optimization.

Highlights

In cooperation with the Fraunhofer LBF, it was made possible to develop a highly integrated interface for active vibration reduction. Technical problems of existing systems could be solved enabling a first commercial implementation. The active interfaces feature a particularly high durability in all spatial directions. Due to their extraordinary robustness, they may also be integrated into applications with high operational demands.
