One example is the open source framework myWMS of the Fraunhofer IML. LinogistiX GmbH is a spin-off of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML.

Optimum Control for Material Flow Systems

LinogistiX implements innovative concepts for the control of the intralogistic material flow. Groundbreaking and awarded projects with significant involvement of LinogistiX employees includes for example the design of an integrated stacker control system for Volkswagen AG (VDI Innovation Award 2007 for Volkswagen AG). The focus of the implementation and consulting services is on innovative technologies for the efficient control of intralogistic processes and their optimization.

The combination of open source and RFID creates new potentials for rationalization. Combining these components enables a new dimension in the design of solutions for medium-sized businesses in order to lower process costs while increasing process quality.

myWMS LOS - The Open Source Warehouse Management System

myWMS LOS is an open source warehouse management system that was especially designed for manually operated warehouses. The basic functions for managing a warehouse are provided and may be configured individually. myWMS LOS is based on the LOS platform in combination with the open source framework myWMS of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML. LOS is an open and powerful IT platform supporting the JEE5 specifications. It provides basic logistic functionalities offering services that may be used for stationary or mobile applications.
