Dresden-based RESprotect GmbH has developed a drug preventing the forming of chemo resistance. Worldwide, the company is the sole provider of such therapy. RP101, the name of this novel drug, takes action much earlier than other drugs. "If cancer patients are treated with chemotherapy, the tumor cells become resistant against the chemotherapy after a certain period of time and treatment is little successful. We prevent the forming of such resistance", explains Prof. Rudolf Fahrig, managing director of the company. Other companies doing research in the same area are merely able to fight existing resistance, he continues.

Also in two small clinical studies with pancreatic cancer patients, the drug RP101 showed significant effects. With this result, further equity capital was acquired and a license for North America was granted.
