Strahltechnologie Dresden GmbH
The Company
The work of the Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology (FEP) covers a wide range of electron beam technologies. The main task is the development of part-specific process variants and special technical components for electron beam machines that are commercially not available.
Over the past few years, the institute was able to win several regular customers from individual development contracts and the pilot series processing of parts with a focus on electron beam welding and hardening. They use the FEP facilities for the welding and hardening of parts and have established their manufacturing processes based on this cooperation.
Based on this development, Strahltechnologie Dresden GmbH was founded as a reliable partner for the customers in the private sector. The Fraunhofer FEP and Strahltechnologie Dresden GmbH work in close cooperation.

Technology and Service
The business activities of the service company "Strahltechnologie Dresden GmbH" (STD) include the execution of manufacturing processes based on electron beam technologies. The parts are supplied by the customer. The manufacturing of customer-specific parts using electron beam technology is also possible.
The company focuses on thermal electron beam technologies.
The term of thermal electron beam technologies refers to all those technologies that primarily utilize the heat that is generated when the electron beam hits the workpiece. The possibilities for application are most versatile.
Important electron beam technologies are:
- Electron beam welding (main application)
- Electron beam hardening
- Electron beam remelting
- Electron beam remelt alloying
- Electron beam deposit welding
- Electron beam surface structuring
- Electron beam drilling
