The Company

SURAGUS GmbH

SURAGUS GmbH, founded in 2010, develops customized eddy current-based testing technology for inline and offline quality assurance in different industries. This main area of application of this process is in non-destructive testing of structured and unstructured functional layers (e. g. TCO layers), of fiber and composite materials, as well as of classic metallic materials.

Technology and Products

The eddy current method utilizes local conductivity variations for the characterization of quality characteristics such as thickness, sheet resistance, material homogeneity or other physical changes in the test material. The powerful eddy current electronics implemented allows for up to 50,000 measurements per second and offers a wide frequency range from 10 kHz to 100 MHz enabling the application of different penetration depths and sensitivities depending on the testing task. For all products, SURAGUS offers a user-friendly software fitted to each individual testing task for fast real-time evaluation. The products of the EddyCus® range provide for both offline and inline use. The EddyCus®MPECS (Multi Parameter Eddy Current Scanner), developed by Fraunhofer IZFP in Dresden, is designed to create high-resolution conductivity images. It may be used for a wide range of applications. For the detection of carbon fiber materials, specially adapted sensors, software modules and measuring recipes are implemented.

For the quality assurance of carbon fiber materials, high-resolution eddy currents are induced and characterized in a contact-free procedure. The conductivity images created in a scanning process or through the implementation of arrays show individual fiber bundles in the different hidden layers. Thus, it is possible to detect important errors or to precisely prove the quality.

Besides the testing of fiber composite materials, the inline quality control of functional thin layers in the photovoltaic, display, and architectural glass industry is the main application of the SURAGUS GmbH EddyCus® series.
