Stress & Strength GmbH
The Company
Stress & Strength GmbH (S&S) was founded in May 2000 as a spin-off company of the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF and is associated with the institute as "Development and Marketing of Specialized Software" competence center. S&S implements the numerical methods developed by Fraunhofer LBF into software solutions that are ready to hit the market and independently distributes these products.
With its comprehensive experience in various fields of numerics, S&S also supports its customers with CAE services and client-specific software development. Furthermore, S&S offers courses, workshops and trainings for its software products related to structural durability and system reliability. As an SMB, S&S also acts as a project partner for funded and research projects related to the competences mentioned above.
The aim of S&S is to support research and development in the industry – in particular the automotive, railway, and aerospace industries, medical technology, optics, and mechanical engineering – with its wide-spread competence.
Products and Services
Data Analysis, Data Processing and Data Evaluation

For analyzing and processing measuring data, Stress & Strength GmbH developed the stand-alone software LBF®.DAP (Data Analysis and Processing). In addition to numerous common features such as spectral analysis, filters, integration/differentiation, etc., well-established counting methods (rainflow, range pair, level crossing) as well as special functions for structural durability analysis based on Fraunhofer LBF experiences have also been implemented.
Numerical Structural Durability Analysis of Rotating Suspension Components

The first Stress & Strength GmbH development was the software LBF®.WheelStrength for dimensioning vehicle wheels. This innovative software was developed based on the methodology of ZWARP, a biaxial wheel and wheel hub test facility; it allows for calculating wheels under realistic marginal conditions at the earliest stage of development.
Concept for the Numerical Structural Durability Analysis of Non-Rotating Suspension Components

The LBF®.SuspensionStrength concept consistently implements the corresponding experimental methods for the numerical structural durability estimation of non-rotating suspension components (such as triangular control arm, stabilizer, wheel trunk, etc.).
Optimizing Numerical Procedures and Processes

In addition to the development of LBF software, S&S added yet another interesting task to its services. With the comprehensive experience gained in various fields of numerics, the LBF spin-off will offer support for its customers' own developments in the future.
Supporting Engineers in R&D

In the scope of its services, S&S supports its customers with numerical tasks in research and development.
Trainings by Stress & Strength GmbH and Fraunhofer LBF

At the S&S Academy, S&S in cooperation with Fraunhofer LBF offers different trainings. This includes courses for own products (LBF®.Products) as well as workshops in the scope of events and individual trainings focusing on the various competences of both companies.
