SCUS GmbH 
Depending on the requirements, SCUS simulates environmental conditions (mechanical and climatic) and tests their impact on the functionality and quality of the products or the suitability for transport of packaging. SCUS provides support from a transport-compatible construction of the products to a perfectly designed packaging. With modern test equipment and short maintenance and calibration intervals, SCUS always ensures state-of-the-art testing.

The base is provided by national and international standards (DIN, EN, ISO), foreign standards (e.g. ASTM, MIL, ISTA), regulations, special contractual agreements, and internal standards. Most of the test facility is accredited to DIN EN ISO 17025.

SCUS GmbH and the Fraunhofer AVV

The Fraunhofer Application Center for Processing Machinery and Packaging Technology (Fraunhofer AVV) is a powerful and qualified service provider for industrial research and development in the context of processing and packaging of mass-produced goods. Most important target industries include food and packaging machine building, pertaining processing industries as users, paper and foil processing, as well as the pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry.

The spin-off SCUS completes the profile with respect to packaging optimization and at the same time builds a technological bridge to the area of packing technical products. Reliable contacts have been established to centers of excellence in corrosion protection and to scientific resources of paper technology and design. In addition, the PACKNET Dresden® (www.packnet-dresden.de), provides access to industrial enterprises representing almost the entire value-added chain of packaging.

The Fraunhofer AVV is an affiliate of the Fraunhofer IVV (Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging) in Freising. Its competencies in food and packaging material provide for an excellent analytical as well as technological background.

Product Testing
 
Time for product development is precious. Therefore, SCUS offers support already at the stage of product development to enable a reliable recommendation for a usage-specific construction as early as possible.

Testing of Packaging

On the way to safe, effective, and economic packaging, SCUS assists its clients by means of usage-specific optimization and dimensioning.

Packaging Material and Product Material Testing

Be it for validation purposes, for determining material characteristics, or characteristics variations - SCUS offers independent analyses for the material used.

Engineering Services

SCUS offers support for the construction of test equipment and devices as well as for the dimensioning of specific test methods.

Calculation of Load and Stress

Necessary for particularly delicate and precious products. This way, load and stress influencing a product during transport may be determined individually beforehand.
