  • Start-up from Cologne makes untapped potential of the Internet of things accessible / 2019

    The NRW.Bank and the Smart Energy Innovation Fund of Swiss energy provider Energie 360 as well as existing stakeholders including the Fraunhofer­-Gesellschaft invest in Enerthing GmbH. The Start-up from Cologne enables the Internet of things to be free from batteries and opens up new possibilities for the digitizing of processes.

  • The Fraunhofer-Gründerpreis 2018, worth 5000 euros, was awarded to Visometry GmbH, a spinoff from the Fraunhofer Institute for Graphic Data Processing (IGD). The Visometry team convinced the jury consisting of members from the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft and the High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) with their Augmented Reality tracking solutions for the digital value chain within the industry 4.0.

    Fraunhofer launches new company builder for high-tech start-ups

    Munich, 25 February 2019. Fraunhofer Venture, a division of Fraunhofer Gesellschaft dedicated to spin-off support, is launching a new incubator program for high-tech start-ups. AHEAD is a company-building program for start-up teams in the high-tech field. The idea is to use Fraunhofer technologies to develop new business models and then get them ready to go to market.

  • In German executive floors and company-builder programs, there is a basic consensus for successful founding: the team and the founder personalities have a significant impact. But that's where the consensus ends. Frequently, start-up teams are simply put together according to performance and competence criteria and start according to common standard processes. This is not enough for the founding tasks of the future and is far too narrow-minded, especially in the high-tech sector.

  • The future will be electric and digital - and the German electrical industry, with a turnover of 192 billion euros, is one of the leaders in Europe. To keep it that way, the Fraunhofer Group for Microelectronics (consisting of 11 Fraunhofer Institutes) and the Leibniz Institutes FBH and IHP have joined forces and founded the »Forschungsfabrik Mikroelektronik Deutschland« (FMD). The network offers diverse participation opportunities for start-ups and companies.
